A person has tragically died on the tracks at a railway station in Birmingham. Police were called to Northfield station at around 8.50pm on Sunday, May 3, following reports of a pedestrian on the tracks.
The pedestrian was later pronounced dead at the scene. The incident caused significant disruption to train services, with delays and cancellations affecting passengers.
Flowers and murals have since been left outside the station entrance as a tribute to the deceased. The death is not being treated as suspicious by authorities.
Police statement
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Northfield station at around 8.50pm on Sunday 3 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
British Transport Police are now preparing a report for the coroner. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
