West Midlands Police have launched a renewed appeal for information five years after a newborn baby boy was tragically found dead in a Black Country canal. The infant's remains were discovered in the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Rough Wood Country Park near Willenhall on May 20, 2021.
It is believed the baby may have been in the water for several days before being found. Despite previous appeals, the case remains unsolved, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Police Appeal for Justice
Detective Inspector Matt Marston said: "We understand that it might be hard for some people who have information to contact us. We know this might be difficult. We have set up a dedicated web page where information can be securely shared with us if you are not comfortable talking with us on the phone. This baby's short life and tragic death must not be forgotten. We will always act upon any new information provided to us. Please, if you have any information get in touch."
A force spokesperson added: "It has been five years since a newborn baby was found in a canal in Walsall. The baby boy was found in the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Rough Wood Country Park near Willenhall on 20 May 2021. It is possible that the baby may have been in the canal for a few days.
