Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to hit parts of the UK today, Sunday, May 3, according to the Met Office. Forecasters predict a wet start for many parts of England and Wales, with rain gradually easing throughout the day. However, where brighter spells develop, there is a chance of one or two heavy showers or thunderstorms.
Temperature Forecast
In northern areas, temperatures are predicted to be near average, while it will feel fairly warm in parts of the southeast. The Met Office advises residents to be prepared for sudden changes in weather conditions.
Thunderstorm Timing
Weather mapping service Ventusky predicts thunderstorms across a large swathe of southern England and Wales at around 7pm this evening. The affected areas include 22 counties in total.

Outlook for Monday
Heading into Monday, Mark Sidaway, a Met Office deputy chief forecaster, said it will remain changeable, with lingering cloud and scattered showers across southern and central areas. However, he noted that these should be lighter and fewer than over the weekend. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather warnings and take necessary precautions during the thunderstorms.
