The lorry collided with the bridge on Thursday evening, leading to a partial collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the damage was described as 'serious' by officials. The bridge is currently closed to trains, causing widespread disruption for passengers.

Services affected between Rugby and Nuneaton

As a result of the incident, trains running between Rugby and Nuneaton are being cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, or diverted via Birmingham. National Rail has warned that the disruption is expected to last until at least 5pm on Friday, June 12.

Network Rail assesses damage

Network Rail engineering teams are on site in Bedworth assessing the extent of the damage. Martin Ball, infrastructure director for Network Rail's West Coast South route, said: 'This collision has caused significant damage to the bridge and our teams are working hard to understand the extent. There will be ongoing disruption to train services through this area while we assess the bridge.'
