A 33-year-old man has tragically lost his life following a serious road traffic collision in Birmingham. Two other individuals were taken to hospital after the incident, which involved a Kia Sportage and a Honda Jazz.
Incident Details
Police were called to Chester Road, close to Chester Road Train Station, at approximately 9:20 PM on May 24, following reports of a collision. Initial investigations suggest that a grey Kia Sportage collided with a wall and then struck a Honda Jazz.
Victims
The driver of the Kia Sportage, a man aged 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers. A passenger in the Kia, also a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. The driver of the Honda Jazz, a man in his 50s, sustained injuries and was also taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Road Closure and Tributes
Chester Road was closed overnight following the collision but has since reopened. Flowers and tributes were left at the scene earlier today, May 25, as a mark of respect.
Police Appeal
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash. Officers are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
