AA Launches New App to Speed Up Breakdown Rescue in the UK
AA's new app aims to speed up breakdown rescue

The AA has unveiled a new mobile application designed to transform the experience of breaking down, promising faster and more efficient rescue for its members across the United Kingdom.

Launched on 17th December 2025, the app aims to eliminate the stress and vulnerability of a breakdown by enabling drivers to request help digitally and share their precise location instantly with rescue patrols.

A Digital Motoring Companion

Available for free download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, the application serves as a comprehensive digital assistant for drivers. Beyond emergency assistance, it offers features for journey planning, live traffic monitoring, and locating nearby fuel stations or electric vehicle chargers. It also helps users keep track of important vehicle dates like MOT and service reminders.

However, its standout feature is dedicated to handling breakdowns. Instead of making a potentially stressful phone call, members can now report their issue directly within the app.

Pinpoint Accuracy for Faster Help

The app utilises a smartphone's built-in GPS to transmit the driver's exact coordinates to the AA's rescue teams. This innovation is a significant step forward, particularly for those stranded on unlit country roads or in unfamiliar areas where describing a location can be difficult.

This means patrols can find members without delay, removing the need to search for road signs or landmarks. Once on scene, the patrol will either carry out a repair at the roadside or arrange for the vehicle to be recovered to a nearby garage.

Trusted Service with Comprehensive Cover

The AA reinforces its position as the UK's most trusted breakdown provider, operating the largest patrol network of any rival. Membership, which starts from £5.49 per month for vehicle cover, includes unlimited callouts with no extra charges for electric or hybrid vehicles. Prospective members can check a personalised quote online.

This digital evolution represents a major commitment to member safety and convenience, ensuring that help arrives as quickly and efficiently as possible when it's needed most.
