A man had to be freed from the wreckage of a significant rush-hour crash in Shropshire. The seriously injured driver was trapped following the collision on the B4176 Upper Ludstone, near Claverley.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, raced to the scene at 5:12 pm on Monday, May 18. The motorist received trauma care before being rushed to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Details of the Incident
The driver of the second car involved was taken to Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital for further checks. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find two cars which had been involved in a significant collision.”
“The driver of one car, a man, was trapped and in a serious condition. He was rapidly extricated with help from fire colleagues and given advanced trauma care by the team of medics to stabilise his condition.”
“The man was taken by land ambulance on blue lights and sirens to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency care.”
Second Driver Less Seriously Injured
“The driver of the second car, a man, was less seriously injured. He was given treatment on scene before being conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital for further checks.”
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said one of the cars involved was a convertible. Crews were called to the scene at 5:18 pm, and cutters were used to free the trapped casualty.
