Olliers Solicitors Celebrates Record Month and Announces Expansion

The leadership team at Olliers Solicitors has announced that the criminal defence firm has experienced its most successful fee month on record, with strong growth projections for the current financial year. This milestone comes as the company marks the first anniversary of its relocation to a new headquarters at 44 Peter Street in Manchester.

Financial Growth and Strategic Expansion

Managing director Matthew Claughton revealed that fee income from the past six months indicates the firm is on track to generate £6.38 million in fee income this financial year, a significant increase from £4.92 million in the previous period. This exceptional performance has prompted plans to expand the team, with five new appointments already confirmed.

The new hires include Austin Anderson-Brettell and Catherine Baird joining as associate solicitors, Sophie Young and Rachael Latto as support team members, and Charlotte Shovlar as legal cashier. These additions are part of a broader strategy to support the firm's continued growth and enhance its service capabilities.

Leadership Insights on Success Factors

Mr Claughton attributed the firm's success to the dedication and expertise of its team, which has built a strong reputation for exceptional client care and legal proficiency. He noted a substantial rise in private work and pre-charge representation since August 2025, with each subsequent month outperforming the last.

"This January was our biggest month ever thanks in part to private work but also significant legal aid cases, proving that our strategy to maintain both types of instruction is proving to be successful," he stated. "The move to a new office signalled a major step-change for us as a firm and a commitment to future growth. It is great to see that investment and the excellent work of the Olliers' team paying off."

In addition to financial achievements, the firm's first year at its new location was highlighted by winning the Manchester Law Society's Crime Team of the Year award, a recognition that underscores its standing in the legal community.

Strategic Initiatives Driving Performance

Business development director Ruth Peters, who works alongside Mr Claughton and commercial director Stacey Mabrouk as part of the senior management team, emphasized that the record-breaking results stem from a proactive, long-term strategy. This approach focuses on redefining how a criminal defence firm engages with its clients.

"Our commitment to marketing and high-value website content has driven a significant surge in direct enquiries from individuals seeking specialist criminal defence representation," Ms Peters explained. She also highlighted investments in technology and skills development, including an AI accreditation program, as key components of the firm's forward-looking plans.

"This growth allows us to reinvest in the very best talent, ensuring that we remain the first choice for those facing the most challenging legal situations," she added, reinforcing the firm's commitment to maintaining its competitive edge through strategic hiring and innovation.
