North Shields-based accountancy practice Hurren & Jubb Accountants has officially joined Streets, a top 40 UK accountancy and advisory group, marking a significant milestone after nearly four decades of independent trading. The firm, which has operated from its Albion Road office since 1988, will now trade under the name Streets Hurren & Jubb, combining its established local reputation with the resources of a national player.
A natural next step for growth
The merger comes as part of a strategic move to accelerate growth while maintaining the personal service that has defined the practice for almost 40 years. Directors at the firm say the decision to join Streets was driven by a desire to offer clients access to a wider range of specialist expertise without losing the close-knit, client-focused approach that has been central to their success.
Shaun Jubb, director at Streets Hurren & Jubb, who joined the practice in 2013 and was promoted to director in 2019, explained: “As the practice continues to grow, joining a national firm is the natural next step. It allows us to continue providing the personal service our clients value while giving them access to a much broader range of specialist expertise.”
Team embraces transition
Jubb highlighted that the transition has been well received by the team, with a strong emphasis on ensuring a smooth experience for both staff and clients. “Our team has embraced the transition, and our focus has been on making the process as smooth as possible for our people and our clients,” he said.
The merger follows an initial meeting between Jubb and Streets chairman and CEO Paul Tutin just four months ago, a timeline that underscores the efficiency of the deal. Since completing the merger, clients of Streets Hurren & Jubb now have immediate access to Streets’ specialist services, including tax relief, tax planning, grants and funding advice, as well as a wider network of technical specialists across the UK.
Early benefits already visible
Jubb revealed that the practice has already begun to see tangible benefits from the merger, particularly in areas such as HR support, recruitment assistance, and access to a broader talent pool. These improvements are expected to support future growth and enhance the firm’s ability to serve its client base in North Tyneside and the wider North East.
Reflecting on the decision-making process, Jubb praised Tutin’s approachable and genuine demeanour. “From our first conversation, Paul was approachable, genuine and down-to-earth. Throughout the process he was always available, supportive and easy to deal with. What you see is what you get, and that gave us confidence we were making the right decision,” he added.
