Millions of Octopus Energy customers across the UK are being urged to open their app and 'press a button' ahead of a major week of free giveaways. Dubbed 'Pink Friday', the initiative is the energy firm's festive alternative to the consumer frenzy of Black Friday.
What is Pink Friday?
From 24 November to 2 December, Octopus Energy is flipping the script on traditional sales events. Instead of encouraging spending, the company is launching a nationwide saving spree for its 'Octoplus' loyalty scheme members. The campaign is designed to give away thousands of items that people will genuinely enjoy, completely free of charge.
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Octopus Energy, explained the thinking behind the campaign: "Black Friday can be about buying stuff we don't need. So we thought we’d do the opposite – give thousands of things people’ll actually enjoy, for free. Pink Friday is about fun, fairness and flipping the script on consumerism."
Daily Freebies and How to Claim Them
Each day during the core week of 24–28 November brings a new set of treats for customers to claim. To participate, users simply need to click the 'Octoplus' button in the Octopus Energy app when the daily treats are released.
The daily schedule of freebies includes:
- Monday & Tuesday: Greggs Treat Drop with 8,000 free sausage rolls (or a savoury item of choice) and thousands of free packs from Constantine Chocolates.
- Wednesday: ODEON Movie Night offering up to two free cinema tickets per customer.
- Thursday: Constantine Plushie Takeover with 10,000 free plush toys.
- Friday: The Big One – £8 off UberEats for a Friday night takeaway.
- Following Monday (2 December): Cyber Monday deal with £8 dishes at AskItalian.
All treats are available in limited quantities and will require customers to be quick to bag them before they run out.
Win a Brand New Electric Car
Beyond the daily freebies, Octopus is offering customers a chance to win big. Each day from 24–28 November, 'Octoplus' customers can enter a prize draw to win one of two brand new electric cars provided by its sister brand, Octopus Electric Vehicles.
The models up for grabs are the Jaecoo J5 Pure or the OMODA E5 Noble. Two winners will be selected and contacted on Friday, 28 November, between 3pm and 3.30pm. To claim their prize, winners must correctly answer the question "What day is it?" with the phrase "It's Pink Friday" during the confirmation call.
This pink-powered campaign offers a refreshing take on the November sales period, putting free treats and sustainable prizes at the forefront for UK energy customers.
