Premier Forest Products Acquires Two Arnold Laver Sites, Saving 36 Jobs
Premier Forest Products Buys Arnold Laver Sites from Administration

In a significant move within the UK's timber and construction sector, Premier Forest Products has acquired two key sites formerly operated by the Arnold Laver brand. The purchase from administrators safeguards dozens of jobs and signals a strategic expansion for the Newport-based firm.

Deal Secures Future for Key Locations

The transaction, finalised in December 2025, involves the Arnold Laver branches in Reading and Manchester. These sites were part of the National Timber Group England, which entered administration in November 2025 due to widespread financial challenges affecting the timber market.

Administrators have been seeking buyers for viable parts of the business, and this sale to Premier Forest Products represents a crucial step. Thirty-six jobs have been immediately protected across the two locations, with ambitious plans to grow the workforce to more than 100 as operations are revitalised under the new ownership.

Strategic Growth Amid Industry Challenges

For Premier Forest Products, this acquisition is a calculated step in its long-term strategy to build a sustainable, nationwide network. The company, which has remained independently owned for over three decades, will now integrate the Reading and Manchester sites into its existing group, rebranding them under the Premier Forest name.

Terry Edgell, co-founder and chief executive of Premier Forest Products, emphasised the company's priorities. "Our focus has been to provide stability for the teams affected and ensure customers continue to receive the dependable service they need," he stated. Mr. Edgell described the move as a "carefully considered decision" that strengthens the company's ability to serve important regional markets during a period of difficult trading conditions for the industry.

Continuity and Long-Term Vision

The deal ensures continuity for both customers and suppliers who relied on the Arnold Laver branches. By bringing the sites out of administration, Premier Forest Products has prevented further disruption in the supply chain.

Mr. Edgell highlighted the company's enduring philosophy, saying, "Our approach has always been to think long term. This acquisition reflects our commitment to building a sustainable future for the business, our people, and our customers." The move not only rescues existing employment but also promises new job creation as the branches are rebuilt and restaffed, contributing positively to the local economies in Reading and Manchester.
