Salford Gas Technology Specialist Enters Administration
Utility Meters Warehouse Ltd (UMW), a specialist provider of advanced gas technology solutions based in Salford, Greater Manchester, has collapsed into administration. The company, which launched in 2013, appointed joint administrators on Thursday, March 18, 2026, according to an official notice published on the London Gazette website.
Administration Details and Company Background
Michael Lennon and Mark Blackman, both of KR8 Advisory Limited, were appointed as joint administrators to oversee the process. UMW provided sophisticated technical solutions to the gas industry, including electronic volume converters (EVCs), telemetry equipment, and station monitoring systems designed to help reduce natural gas consumption. As of 2025, the company employed 29 staff members.
Recent Business Insolvency Context
This administration follows another recent business collapse in the UK. Leaf Creative, a garden centre based in Huntley, Gloucestershire, filed for administration on Friday, February 27, 2026. The company has since been acquired by Blue Diamond Garden Centres, one of the largest garden centre groups in the country, which operates 52 sites and employs approximately 4,700 staff.
Leaf Creative appointed Brett Lee Barton and David Meldrum of BK Plus Limited as joint administrators after becoming insolvent. The business remains open to the public under its new ownership. According to its website, Leaf Creative specialized in "fabulous, unusual plant specimens" and provided gardening design services, with origins tracing back to a founding nursery at Howle Hill.
The collapse of Utility Meters Warehouse Ltd highlights ongoing challenges in the business sector, particularly for specialized technology providers in the utility industry. The administration process will determine the future of the company's assets, intellectual property, and employment arrangements for its 29 staff members.
