Nationwide has issued a warning to its customers, urging them to take action by June 8 if they wish to receive the £100 Fairer Share bonus this year. Notifications have been sent to eligible members, confirming that the payment will arrive in their accounts by June 30.
How to Decline the Payment
Members who do not wish to receive the bonus have the option to decline it. Nationwide, which has branches across Birmingham, stated: "You will need to let us know, no later than June 8, by calling us on 0330 123 9734, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, Saturday between 9am and 2pm, or by visiting us in branch."
Fairer Share Bonus Background
The bonus is being paid for the fourth consecutive year in 2026. This year, approximately £440 million will be distributed to more than 4 million members. Since the launch of Fairer Share, Nationwide will have returned around £1.5 billion to its members.
Last year, Nationwide supported over 200,000 people through its Fairer Futures programme, including hosting more than 6,000 free dementia clinics in branches. The mutual also committed £21.8 million to charitable activities.
Additionally, Nationwide supported over 215,000 school children with financial education and became a funding partner for the Invest in Women Taskforce, committing £25 million to female and mixed-gender-led businesses.
Chief Executive's Statement
Dame Debbie Crosbie, Nationwide’s Chief Executive, said: "More people than ever are choosing Nationwide. Our growth in mortgages, retail deposits and personal current accounts is leading the market, which means we can again make a Fairer Share payment to eligible members, and offer a new Member Exclusive Bond to all members."
The latest Fairer Share payment, totalling around £440 million, will be paid from June 10 to eligible members who choose Nationwide for their everyday banking and have a qualifying savings account or mortgage. While Nationwide aims to pay Fairer Share every year, it is not guaranteed and is subject to Board approval.
