In a significant boost for the Welsh technology sector, Newport-based consultancy de Novo Solutions has unveiled ambitious plans to create 50 new jobs over the next five years. The expansion is driven by the firm's remarkable revenue growth and its position as a leader in digital transformation.
Rapid Growth and National Recognition
Founded in 2021, de Novo has quickly established itself as a powerhouse. In the financial year to May 2025, the company generated £9.8 million in sales and has achieved an average annual growth rate of 186.8% over the last three years. It currently employs 115 people.
The firm's success was nationally recognised in 2025 when it was named the highest-ranked Welsh company on both the Sunday Times 100 and the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 lists.
Investing in Future Talent and the Welsh Economy
A core part of the expansion involves scaling up its Graduate Apprenticeship programme, which is run in partnership with the Welsh Government and the University of South Wales. The company specialises in transforming HR, Payroll, Finance, and Procurement functions for major clients, including the Ministry of Justice, HM Treasury, and the Office for National Statistics.
Founder Mark Sweeny stated the "50 in 5" initiative reflects a dual commitment to enhancing internal talent and boosting the wider tech sector. "New recruits have the chance to train with us, learn tech and life skills, and gain hands-on experience," he said, adding that the firm is becoming the "go-to name" for expert digital transformation.
Political and Economic Welcome
The announcement has been warmly welcomed by political and economic leaders in Wales. Rebecca Evans, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, said de Novo's success "demonstrates the strength of Wales as a hub for digital innovation."
Jessica Morden, Labour MP for Newport East, highlighted the city's growing reputation. "As the fastest-growing city in Wales, Newport is brimming with talent, ambition, and energy," she said. "These 50 new jobs... will not only strengthen our city’s reputation as a hub for innovation but also ensure that local people can thrive in the industries of the future."
The company recently sponsored Wales Tech Week, underlining its support for the industry's growth across the nation.
