Nationwide has confirmed that bonus payments will be made to 4.4 million customers starting Wednesday, June 10. The vast majority of eligible members will receive their £100 Fairer Share scheme payment on that day, with the mutual giving itself until June 30 to complete all remaining payments.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the payment, members must hold a current account with Nationwide and also have a qualifying savings or mortgage product. This year's payout was announced on May 21 during Nationwide's full-year financial results, which revealed that the mutual delivered £1.5 billion to members during the year ending March 31, 2026.
How Customers Plan to Use the £100
New research from Nationwide indicates that many recipients plan to spend the bonus on everyday essentials. Sixteen percent said they would use it for a big food shop, while 13 percent would save towards a holiday and another 13 percent would allocate it as holiday spending money. Smaller indulgences also feature strongly, with 12 percent opting to go out for dinner and another 12 percent choosing a takeaway.
This mix of practical spending and small rewards reflects recent consumer behavior, with more than half (54 percent) of people treating themselves to food or drink in the past month, 37 percent buying clothing, and around a quarter spending on pet products (23 percent) and beauty or skincare (23 percent). Others chose books or games (18 percent), plants or garden items (18 percent), and homeware (15 percent).
Stephen Noakes, Nationwide's Group Retail Director, said: "We've made strong progress with this year's Fairer Share payment, surpassing four million payments on the first day. We're pleased to be able to reward eligible members with £100 for the fourth consecutive year, reflecting Nationwide's strong financial position."
