Nationwide Building Society is sending a surprise £100 bonus into customer accounts on Wednesday morning, marking the fourth consecutive year of the Fairer Share payment. Over 4 million members will receive the bonus, with the mutual having paid out over £1.5 billion in total since 2023.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, customers must be Nationwide members with a qualifying current account held on 31 March 2026, plus either qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage. The payment will be made between 10 and 30 June 2026, exclusively into an open Nationwide current account. Accounts from Clydesdale (including Virgin Money current accounts) do not qualify.
Additional Details
For a current account to be qualifying, it must have been opened by 31 March 2026, with extra requirements depending on the account type. Mortgage holders must have owed at least £100 on their Nationwide residential mortgage on that date. Members who joined via the Virgin Money transfer may be eligible for a 2027 payment. Nationwide noted that while it aims to make the payment annually, this depends on financial performance, and terms may change.
