Nationwide to Pay Free £100 to Millions of Customers

Nationwide is set to distribute free £100 payments to millions of its customers starting Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The building society has confirmed the return of its popular Fairer Share payment scheme for the fourth consecutive year.

How the Payment Works

Eligible customers will receive an automatic £100 deposit into their accounts without needing to take any action. The building society expects to pay over 4 million members, with funds arriving between June 10 and June 30. Nationwide noted that some customers may see the money slightly later, but all eligible recipients will be credited by the end of June.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, customers must hold a Nationwide current account along with either a savings account or a mortgage. Savings accounts must have contained at least £100 during March 2026. New customers who joined after March 31 are not eligible, and it is too late to open accounts to qualify for this payout.

A Nationwide spokesperson stated: "The Nationwide Fairer Share payment is £100 for the fourth year running. Over 4 million of our members will receive it. We will have paid out over £1.5 billion in total to eligible members since 2023."

The building society added: "You must be a member of Nationwide with a qualifying current account, plus either qualifying savings or a qualifying mortgage. And you need to have met these criteria when we last checked on March 31 this year."

Payments will only be made into an open Nationwide current account. Customers are advised to ensure their account is active and accessible to receive the funds.

CEO Comments

Dame Debbie Crosbie, Nationwide’s chief executive, said: "More people than ever are choosing Nationwide. Our growth in mortgages, retail deposits and personal current accounts is leading the market, which means we can again make a Fairer Share payment to eligible members, and offer a new Member Exclusive Bond to all members."
