The Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market has officially opened its doors for the 2025 season, bringing festive cheer and traditional German fare to the heart of the city. Crowds have already begun gathering since the market launched on Saturday, November 1, with many visitors toasting the occasion with a glass of authentic weissbier.
Steady Prices Offer Festive Relief
In a welcome move amidst the ongoing cost of living pressures, the market has announced that its prices for both food and drink have been held at their 2024 levels. This means revellers can enjoy their festive treats without facing increased costs this year.
The popular German beers have seen their prices frozen, with a half-pint of Hofbrau remaining at £4 and a full pint costing £7. For those looking to share or indulge a little more, a two-pint serving is available for £12.50. Weissbier is priced at £6.50 per pint, and shandy costs £7 per pint.
For non-drinkers, hot chocolates are on offer for £5 each.
Food Stalls and Deposit Details
The food stalls have also maintained their previous pricing. A traditional bratwurst will set you back £6.50, while a more substantial half-metre bratwurst is priced at £9. A portion of chips costs £4, and for those with a sweet tooth, crepes start at £4.50, rising to £6 with toppings.
There is one key budgeting detail that visitors should be aware of: a deposit system for drinks. As explained by TikTok user Olivia Lewis, a deposit is required for the cup or glass used for beer and hot chocolate. If paid by card, the deposit is refunded in cash upon returning the vessel. This was confirmed by another visitor, Queen Jayda, who paid a £5 deposit for a mulled wine cup. The good news is that no deposit is required for food items.
Public Reaction to the Market Prices
The price reveal on the BirminghamLive TikTok account has sparked a mixed reaction from the public.
Many commenters found the costs reasonable. The Bloody Mummer stated, "Not as bad as I thought it would be TBH," while Dan praised the "reasonable prices" and specifically mentioned the churros. Bala Manush added, "Very reasonable prices I think."
However, not everyone was convinced. Hugo commented, "Thank for reminding me not go haha Will make my own! I don't pay and normalise extortionate prices." Another user, WildLolipop, expressed frustration, noting that the prices are difficult for families and criticising the taste of the food.
The Birmingham Frankfurt Christmas Market 2025 is now open, offering a festive experience with stable pricing. Will you be paying a visit and shelling out for a two-pinter, or are the costs too steep for your liking?
