A Brummie expat has revealed what Spain's most notorious holiday resort is really like after years of regular visits.
Expat's Insight
Adrian Moore, 56, moved to nearby Alicante in 2003 and has become a frequent visitor to Benidorm. The former Birmingham resident has witnessed the resort's ability to cater to all types of holidaymakers.
Speaking to BirminghamLive, he said: 'Benidorm caters for everyone. You can drink warm lager for €1.50 a pint or take a date to a quality hotel.'
Budget to Luxury
Moore describes the resort as offering everything from budget breaks to luxury stays. He explains that visitors can experience 'warm beer at breakfast' while dodging mobility scooters, or enjoy five-star accommodation.
The 56-year-old acknowledges the resort's reputation, saying: 'Benidorm is a bit tacky but you can go there and spend a lot of money.' He notes the presence of Union flags and saucy t-shirts, admitting 'it's not for everyone.'
Sunshine Appeal
Despite mixed reactions from family members, Moore believes the consistent sunshine is what keeps drawing people back to Spain. He encourages others to explore beyond the stereotypes.
