A popular Wolverhampton micropub has sparked conversation after announcing a strict 'no new faces' policy for its New Year's Eve celebrations. Keg & Comfort on Stafford Road will be opening its doors exclusively to regular customers on Wednesday, 31 December 2025.
Prioritising Loyal Patrons for a Cosy Celebration
The management of the cosy venue, known for its real ales, ciders and focus on conversation over televisions or gaming machines, made the announcement via social media. They confirmed the event was going ahead but strictly for 'our own customers only'.
In a post, the pub stated: "Back to the original plan for Wednesday. If you were coming before then it's still going ahead. Our own customers only, no new faces sorry." The post encouraged attendees to bring their own food and silly hats, while the pub would supply drinks, music and a few games.
A Decision Defended by the Landlady
Landlady Louise Clive directly defended the decision to prioritise regulars for the busy night. She explained the rationale behind the move, citing the pub's intimate size.
"That’s right, we’re only small so prioritising for this one night," she responded. The event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis with doors opening at 6pm and a clear 'no table saving' rule. The pub warned patrons that once capacity is reached, "we're full".
Intimate Atmosphere Takes Precedence
The policy highlights the unique character of Keg & Comfort, a micropub that deliberately fosters a community feel. By limiting attendance to familiar faces, the aim is to preserve the established, conversational atmosphere that regulars enjoy, even on one of the year's busiest nights for the hospitality industry.
This move follows a trend of local venues making tailored decisions for high-demand events, balancing commercial opportunity with their core customer base and operational style. The pub has apologised to potential new customers but remains firm in its choice to reward its loyal community for this single evening.
