Kingswinford Micro Pub Thrives Under New Owners After Struggles
Once-Struggling Kingswinford Pub Now Thrives with Regular Crowds

Inside Ale Hub micro pub in Kingswinford, Peter Workman is close to retirement age but has no plans of retiring anytime soon. The 64-year-old has taken over the running of Ale Hub on Kingswinford's high street, alongside his partner Li Wan, 58.

The micro pub, located on Market Street, was struggling under its previous owners. Peter explained: "It's been here about three and a half years. The previous owners closed it because they couldn't make any money out of it. Me and my partner, who worked here part-time beforehand, made them an offer to reassign the lease, and we took it over on November 28, the day the Christmas lights went on."

Now, the bar enjoys a good regular crowd. "We do all right, to be fair. We have a good regular crowd in here, so it does all right," Peter said.

Drinks and Events

Ale Hub offers a wide selection of drinks, including real ales, craft ales, lagers, ciders, wines, spirits, and cocktails. The bar employs an additional staff member and hosts open mic sessions on Sundays, bingo nights, quiz nights, charity nights, and music events. "It all brings people in," Peter noted.

Regarding the micro bar's alcohol selection, Peter emphasized that they sell real ales not usually stocked and cocktails made from scratch. "We don't use mixes or anything like that. They're made all from fresh, they are very popular," he explained.

Peter added: "We should ordinarily be retiring, but that's gone out the window thanks to the pub."
