Santander has issued a warning to its UK customers regarding a £3 monthly fee that many may have overlooked. The high street bank, which operates branches in Birmingham, has sent emails to holders of its 1|2|3 credit card, reminding them of the charge.
Santander's Reminder on the £3 Fee
In the communication, Santander stated: "We wanted to remind you that your 1|2|3 Credit Card has a £3 monthly fee. The cashback you've earned in the past few months hasn't always covered this." The bank advised customers to check their monthly account statements or transactions via Mobile or Online Banking to see how much cashback they are currently earning.
Cashback Details
The card offers 1% cashback at major supermarkets on spend up to £300 per month, 2% cashback at major department stores on spend up to £150 per month, and 3% cashback at major petrol stations and on National Rail and Transport for London (TfL) travel on combined spend up to £100 per month.
On its website, Santander explained: "Credit cards can sometimes seem overwhelming as they appear to come with a lot of information. Knowing your credit card features will give you a better chance of making full use of the card." The bank added: "We want to make sure you're aware of some of these key features that are available with a credit card you may have."
Additional Card Features
Santander provides a table breaking down the basic features of each fee-paying credit card, allowing customers to compare and ensure they have the right card for their needs. Notably, the card does not charge foreign transaction fees for purchases or cash withdrawals made abroad in the local currency. However, a 3% fee applies to all cash withdrawals. Exchange rates can be viewed instantly via mobile or online banking.
