Major Logistics Development in Redditch Gets Green Light
Plans for a £35 million urban logistics scheme in Redditch, Worcestershire, have been officially approved, with the project expected to generate up to 150 new jobs upon completion. The Aurora Park development, a joint venture between Chancerygate and Hines, will span 133,500 square feet on a 6.4-acre site at North Moons Moat industrial estate.
Sustainable Features and Construction Timeline
The development will consist of nine leasehold units, ranging from 7,685 to 22,055 square feet, designed with high-performance materials to minimize CO2 emissions. Key sustainable elements include air source heat pumps, electric vehicle charging points, and roof-mounted solar panels to provide affordable green energy. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer, with completion targeted for the third quarter of 2027.
Economic Impact and Regional Demand
Rob Watts, development manager at Chancerygate, emphasized the strong demand for modern, sustainable business space in the West Midlands. "Aurora Park will offer high-specification units in a prime commercial location with excellent connectivity, directly addressing the needs of local and regional businesses," he stated. The site is strategically positioned three miles from Redditch town centre and 15 miles from Birmingham, near major companies like Amazon and Lear Corporation.
Partnership and Expansion Efforts
Ross Blair, senior managing director at Hines, highlighted the long-standing partnership with Chancerygate, which has delivered over one million square feet of workspace across eight UK schemes. "We are actively seeking to grow our pipeline this year, building on our success in key regional locations," he added. The project is funded by Hines European Real Estate Partners III, which has over £1.3 billion in equity commitments.
