Louie Barry has bid an emotional farewell to Aston Villa after leaving his boyhood club to join Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee. The 23-year-old forward signed a four-year deal with an option for a fifth year at Hillsborough, ending a six-and-a-half-year association with Villa.
Barry's Emotional Tribute to Villa
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Barry described his time at Villa as an "honour" and highlighted two standout moments: winning the FA Youth Cup and scoring on his professional debut against Liverpool. He wrote: "After 6 years at Aston Villa, the club I've supported my whole life, it's time for me to start a new chapter in my career. I came in as a boy, and through all the experiences I've had, all the ups and downs, Villa helped me throughout. Now I'm leaving as a man."
Barry added: "Winning the FA Youth Cup and scoring on my professional debut against Liverpool are moments I'll cherish and keep close to my heart forever. Thank you to everyone at the club - from the staff and the players to everyone who helped me throughout my loan spells. It's been an honour to be an Aston Villa player, and I wish everyone at the club all the very best. UTV."

Barry's Journey at Villa
Barry joined Villa's academy as a youngster and rose through the ranks, making his professional debut in a 4-1 win over Liverpool in January 2021, where he scored the opening goal. He also played a key role in Villa's FA Youth Cup triumph in 2021. After loan spells at several clubs, including MK Dons and Stockport County, Barry now moves to Sheffield Wednesday to continue his career in the Championship.
