Beauty Bay Rescued from Collapse by International Investment Group
A major UK cosmetic firm has been saved from collapse after a critical sale to an international investment group. Beauty Bay, a prominent online beauty retailer, has been rescued from administration following its acquisition by AA Investments Group through a pre-pack administration arranged by consultancy firm Interpath.
Deal Secures Future After Sales Pause
The transaction secures the future of the UK online beauty retailer, which had previously closed down its website and paused all sales. This move came after mounting cost pressures and weak consumer confidence forced the company to seek insolvency protection. Beauty Bay appointed joint administrators Rick Harrison and James Clark from Interpath to oversee the process.
Under the terms of the deal, 62 Beauty Bay staff members will transfer to the firm's new buyer. Joint founder Arron Gabbie will remain with the business for a short period to facilitate a smooth transition to the new owners, according to recent reports.
Founders Express Gratitude to Team
Arron and David Gabbie, founders of Beauty Bay, expressed their appreciation in a statement. "We would like to say a huge thank you to our brilliant team who have helped to make Beauty Bay everything that it is today," they said. "Their commitment and support over the last 27 years have been unwavering, no more so than over these past few weeks."
The company's webpage currently displays a message stating: "We'll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we'll be back shortly." This indicates the temporary nature of the sales pause as the business restructures under new ownership.
Administrator Comments on Brand Legacy
Rick Harrison, Managing Director at Interpath and joint administrator, provided insight into the company's history and future prospects. "Since its inception in 1999, Beauty Bay has grown to become one of the UK’s leading online beauty retailers, selling well-known cosmetics and cult brands to over five million customers," he noted.
Harrison added, "We are pleased to have concluded this transaction, which will see the brand continue under new ownership, and wish everyone connected with the business all the best for the future."
Company Profile and Market Position
Beauty Bay is an online retailer that sells products from more than 200 brands, including its own-label range called By Beauty Bay. This range spans various categories such as:

The company serves more than five million customers and has built a strong reputation for stocking emerging beauty labels and "cult" products, making it a significant player in the UK beauty market. The rescue deal ensures that this legacy will continue under the stewardship of AA Investments Group.
