Grand Central's Fuel Juice Bar Closes, Directs Shoppers to Bullring Location
Fuel Juice Bar Closes in Grand Central, Points to Bullring

Fuel Juice Bar Shuts Down at Grand Central After Nearly a Decade

Fuel Juice Bar, which was among the first brands to open in Birmingham's Grand Central when it launched above New Street Station in September 2015, has closed its doors. The closure marks the end of an era for one of the venue's original tenants, as shoppers are now being redirected to its alternative location.

Closure Notice Points Customers to Bullring with Discount Offer

A sign posted on the window of the now-shuttered Fuel Juice Bar in Grand Central informs customers of the closure and directs them to the brand's branch in the Bullring. Specifically, the sign points shoppers to the Bullring location opposite Sephora, where they can enjoy a ten per cent discount on regular drinks by showing staff the closure notice. This move aims to retain customer loyalty despite the shutdown at Grand Central.

Retail Shifts and New Openings in Birmingham's Shopping Scene

The closure of Fuel Juice Bar comes amid broader changes in Birmingham's retail landscape. Recently, it was revealed that Joe And The Juice, which already operates a branch in Grand Central, will open another outlet in the Bullring, taking over the unit vacated by Soho Coffee last month. This new addition will join SushiDog, which opened on the upper floor of the West Mall earlier this year.

In Grand Central, the empty Fuel unit now sits alongside Shakeii Shakeii, which has also closed, contributing to a growing number of vacant spaces in the venue. These include units around the mezzanine area with views down towards New Street Station, such as the former Caffe Concerto that closed after a decade in 2015. Other brands, like Costa, have moved out around Grand Central's ten-year anniversary, with Black Sheep Coffee replacing it.

Ongoing Developments and Future Plans for Grand Central

When asked about further developments at Grand Central, particularly regarding the former John Lewis unit slated to become a new development called The Drum, owner Hammerson stated there are no updates to share at this time. This leaves questions about the future of the retail hub unanswered.

Meanwhile, changes are also underway on the train station concourse below. Taco Bell has confirmed it will open its first-ever city centre branch next to Popeye's near the Bullring exit, and Greggs is set to open a new branch in the former Boots unit. These additions signal ongoing evolution in Birmingham's dining and shopping offerings, with more updates expected as plans progress.
