Poundstretcher Opens in Atherstone with Free Goody Bags

Poundstretcher is set to open a new store in Warwickshire next week, with the first 100 customers receiving a special goody bag. The discount retailer will begin operations in the former Original Factory Shop premises on Long Street on Friday, June 26.

The Original Factory Shop, another discount retailer, collapsed into administration in January 2026. After failing to secure viable buyers, the company permanently closed its website and all 137 UK stores on April 4, 2026, resulting in nearly 1,200 staff redundancies.

Opening Details

The store will be officially opened by Sara Bishop, the Mayor of Atherstone. The first 100 customers through the doors will receive a free goody bag. The new store, spanning over 6,000 square feet, will offer a wide range of products including clothing, DIY equipment, gardening supplies, health and beauty items, home décor, snacks, storage solutions, pet products, sweets, and drinks.

Andy Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Poundstretcher, commented: “Household budgets remain under pressure, so we are committed to expanding our store network and making it easier for even more people to access great products at great prices. We’re thrilled to be opening in Atherstone and can’t wait to welcome shoppers through our doors on Long Street on June 26th.”
