MGB: The Cheapest Car to Insure
The MGB is the cheapest car in the UK to get insurance for. Drivers with an MGB could pay an average of just £83 for their car insurance policy. Tom Banks, car insurance spokesperson at Go.Compare, said: "Some models cost more to insure due to factors like repair costs and risk of theft, so it might seem surprising that the MGB is the cheapest car to insure, but when you scratch beneath the surface, it makes sense. It was MG's top-selling model, meaning parts are widely available, and owners of these cars tend to be mature motorists who only take them short distances, all of which brings down the average premium."

Kara Gammell of comparison website MoneySuperMarket advises drivers to focus on the level of cover they need when comparing policies and only buy the features they require. "Basic roadside assistance is usually the cheapest option, while national recovery, onward travel, and at-home start add extra protection, but can also add to the cost, so it’s important to tailor your policy, rather than assuming you need every add-on," she says.
