A team of 28 dedicated volunteers and staff raised more than £14,600 for Rowcroft Hospice during a major music concert at Powderham Castle, where music fans gathered to watch a performance by Alanis Morissette. The funds will provide specialist medical help for people with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon.
Fundraising Details
The concert, part of the Live at Powderham series, saw volunteers collecting donations from attendees in exceptionally hot conditions. The hospice relies heavily on public support because the NHS only funds around a quarter of its annual running costs. Rowcroft Hospice helps approximately 2,500 people each year by providing free end-of-life care in patient homes and at its Torquay inpatient unit.
Volunteer Efforts
Lisa Whittaker, corporate fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice, said: "We are super proud of our amazing volunteers, who gave up their time and worked tirelessly in exceptionally hot conditions. We were blown away by the amazing support we received - it was truly wonderful to see so many people recognising the importance of local hospice care and wanting to support families who need our services. To raise this incredible amount in a single evening is an outstanding achievement."
Impact of Donations
Whittaker added: "Every donation, no matter the size, will help us continue providing compassionate care and support to people with life-limiting illnesses and those closest to them. We'd like to say a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gave their time, to the organisers at Live at Powderham for choosing us as their charity partner for this fantastic event, and to everyone who donated so generously."
