£24k Raised for Jimmy Spice's Worker as Funeral Held

A much-loved student and restaurant worker was being remembered at her funeral today, as well-wishers raised nearly £25,000 for her family.

Tragic Incident in Birmingham City Centre

Anisha Chakraborty, 28, was struck by a black Audi RSQ8 on Dartmouth Middleway in Birmingham city centre early on Saturday, May 30. She was an international student and worked at Jimmy Spice's on Broad Street.

A 22-year-old man was arrested by West Midlands Police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. He was later bailed.

Fundraiser Success

Following her death, a fundraiser was set up for the Jimmy Spice's worker. It amassed more than £24,000. The appeal closed ahead of Anisha's funeral, held at Perry Barr Crematorium, as organiser Shefali Karulkar thanked the public for their kindness.

A GoFundMe update said: "As Anisha's funeral takes place, we will now be closing the GoFundMe page. On behalf of Anisha's family, friends, and colleagues, thank you to everyone who donated, shared the fundraiser, and offered messages of support following her tragic passing. Your kindness, generosity, and compassion during this incredibly difficult time have meant more than words can express."

Funeral Details

Anisha Chakraborty's funeral was held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11.30am at Birmingham Crematorium, 389 Walsall Road, Perry Barr, Birmingham, B42 2LR. The cremation service and Antim Darshan took place at the venue. Following the service, the family planned to release a public statement, and friends and well-wishers had the opportunity to meet them.

The update concluded: "Thank you once again for helping us honour Anisha's memory. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered."
