44-mile air ambulance fundraiser tops £4,000

Calvin Oak, an employee at Practice Plus Group Hospital Barlborough, has completed a 44-mile trek with his brother and two cousins, raising more than £4,000 for the Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. The team, calling themselves Four Blokes on Hikes, carried a weighted stretcher from RAF Waddington to the helipad at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on August 15.

Fundraising journey honours grandmother's memory

The group chose to support the air ambulance after losing their grandmother last year, discovering she had quietly donated to the service throughout her life. Their journey was a test of endurance, but the family persevered together to honour her memory.

Calvin said: “The walk was very challenging, with many ups and downs, but we persevered with teamwork, encouragement and good old determination.” He added: “I’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored me, my brother and cousins, it is greatly appreciated.”
