Trevor and Melanie Jenkinson, landlords of The Needles pub in Alvaston, are preparing to host their largest fundraising event of the year to support a local charity that holds personal significance for Melanie.
The couple, who have run the pub for the past nine years, have already raised more than £2,000 for the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Home over the last two years. Melanie herself attended the holiday home as a child, which has made the cause particularly close to her heart.
What to expect at the event
Scheduled for August 31, the event will feature four musical acts performing throughout the day. A temporary licence has been secured to allow all live entertainment to take place outside in the pub grounds.
Visitors can enjoy food stalls offering Jamaican and Indian dishes, as well as a tombola and a large raffle with eight hampers and 30 donated prizes.
Line-up and timings
Musician Wayne Swift will open the stage at 2pm, followed by Closer to the Coast at 4pm. Singer and comedian Craig Williams performs at 6pm, with Dave Brown closing the event at 8pm.
Event details and location
The event takes place at The Needles, Bembridge Drive, Alvaston, Derby, DE24 0UQ. Entry is free, and further information is available on the pub's Facebook page.
The fundraising day aims to build on the couple's previous contributions to the Derbyshire Children's Holiday Home, which provides holidays for local children in need.
