A determined resident from Bilsthorpe is preparing to embark on an ambitious six-month fundraising challenge, running six 10km races to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND Association). The challenge aims to raise vital funds and awareness for the charity, which supports families affected by motor neurone disease (MND).
Six Races, Six Months, One Cause
The runner will complete six 10km races across different locations between June and November. Each race represents a powerful statistic: six people are diagnosed with MND every day in the UK. The schedule includes races in Cheltenham (June), Chester (July), Wimbleball Lake (August), Sheffield (September), Newcastle (October), and Boston Wood (November).
A Personal Connection to the Cause
The dedicated runner also works closely with the charity as part of his day job, giving him a unique insight into the impact of the disease. He is hoping the community will rally behind his efforts to support families affected by MND.
He said: "I have decided to take on a personal challenge, in aid of the MND Association, which will see me run six 10km races across six months of 2026. I will run Cheltenham (June), Chester (July), Wimbleball Lake (August), Sheffield (September), Newcastle (October) and Boston Wood (November)."
"The number six is extremely relevant to the MND Association, due to 6 people being diagnosed with MND every day in the UK."
