Birmingham mum's fundraiser for Katie Fox memorial stone

Maria Fox, the mother of Katie Fox, has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise £3,500 for a memorial stone in honour of her daughter, who was tragically stabbed to death while waiting for a bus in Birmingham city centre last November.

Details of the incident

Katie Fox, 34, was fatally attacked at a bus stop on Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham city centre. She was laid to rest in March in Devon, a place she had planned to move to and described as her "special place."

Mother's tribute

Maria described Katie as a "beautiful and caring soul" who had "touched the hearts" of many with her "kindness" and "respectfulness." A memorial service was held at St Francis Church in Bournville in May. Maria said: "We laid Katie to rest in Devonshire as it was most important that she is surrounded by beautiful and tranquil surroundings that she deserved."

Fundraising goal

The GoFundMe page aims to raise £3,500 for a memorial stone. Maria described the last eight months as "the most horrific" and "horrendous time" after losing her "precious daughter." She added: "We will never come to terms with such tragedy, such loss, such grief."

Legal proceedings

Djeison Rafael, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with Katie's murder and is due to stand trial on October 6.
