Brecon's Festive Tractor Run Returns to Raise Vital Funds for Charities
Brecon's Illuminated Tractor Run Raises Funds for Air Ambulance

The streets of Brecon will once again be spectacularly lit up this festive season for a beloved annual charity event. The Pontfaen Young Farmers Club is preparing to host its popular illuminated tractor and 4x4 run, a highlight of the local calendar that combines community spirit with vital fundraising.

Route, Festivities and Fundraising Goals

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 23 December. The convoy of festively decorated vehicles will depart from Brecon Livestock Market at approximately 4.15pm, embarking on a tour through the town and surrounding villages before concluding at Brecon High School around 6.45pm.

Organisers have detailed the approximate timings, with key stops including Llanfaes, Ship Street, The Watton, and Pontfaen, ensuring communities along the route can enjoy the dazzling display.

The finish line at the high school promises a full festive experience for supporters. Attendees can enjoy performances by the Brecon Town Band, visit Santa's grotto, and warm up with mulled wine, hot chocolate, and mince pies. A grand raffle will also take place, with a prize on offer for the best-dressed vehicle.

Beneficiaries of the Community's Generosity

The primary aim of the glittering spectacle is to raise crucial funds for good causes. This year, the young farmers have selected two main charities: the Wales Air Ambulance and The Brain Tumour Charity.

In a significant additional gesture, the club will also donate £500 each to the paediatric wards at four hospitals: Merthyr Hospital, Hereford Hospital, Glangwili Hospital, and Noah’s Ark Children's Hospital. A portion of the proceeds will also support the ongoing work of Pontfaen Young Farmers Club itself.

The event has a formidable fundraising record, having generated more than £25,000 for worthy causes over the past four years.

Critical Care in the Sky: Supporting Wales Air Ambulance

The Wales Air Ambulance service expressed its delight at being chosen once again. Kate Thomas, regional fundraising manager, extended a "huge thank you to everyone at Pontfaen Young Farmers Club" for their continued support.

She emphasised the importance of the funds, noting that the charity must raise £13 million annually to maintain its lifesaving operations. The service is consultant-led, bringing advanced hospital-standard treatments directly to patients across Wales. Its crews can perform critical procedures like administering anaesthesia and blood transfusions at the scene.

"Let’s help Pontfaen Young Farmers Club light up the community and make a real difference this Christmas!" added Ms Thomas.

The community is encouraged to follow the Pontfaen Young Farmers Club Facebook page for live updates on the night. Those wishing to support the event financially can donate via the club's JustGiving page.
