Two men were arrested in Birmingham after police stopped a car and discovered a large amount of cash, Class A drugs, and other items. The arrests came after officers from West Midlands Police stopped a vehicle on Hawthorn Road, Kingstanding, at around 10.30pm on Friday, August 28.
The stop was prompted by what police described as suspicious activity. After stopping the vehicle, officers carried out searches of two men and the car itself. During those searches, they recovered a large amount of cash and Class A drugs.
Further searches at Cramlington Road address
Following the initial stop, police carried out additional searches at an address on Cramlington Road. There, officers recovered CS spray and equipment linked to car theft. The discoveries led to the arrest of two men, aged 18 and 38.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We have arrested two men after our response officers recovered Class A drugs and CS spray following a vehicle stop." The statement added: "Response officers in Erdington stopped a vehicle on Hawthorn Road, Kingstanding, at around 10.30pm yesterday following suspicious activity."
Firearm offence arrest for 38-year-old
The 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. He was also arrested on suspicion of a firearm offence following the recovery of the CS spray. The 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
Police confirmed both men remain in custody for questioning. The arrests follow a separate incident in Birmingham where a loaded gun and machetes were found, leading to a stop-and-search being put in place.
