Two local business owners, Mark Galley and Gareth Henney, have raised more than £14,000 for a children’s disability charity after hosting a fundraising golf event. The successful tournament took place at Hurlston Hall, a prestigious regional venue, and welcomed over 80 golfers competing to support young people with complex needs. The organisers were inspired to launch the event after seeing the specialist care provided to a family member at Rainbow Hub's local centre.
Golf Day Raises £14,035 for Specialist Services
The inaugural charity golf day raised £14,035, according to Emma Parish, corporate events and relations manager at Rainbow Hub. She confirmed that the funds will help the charity continue providing specialist services to 160 children with neurological conditions and their families throughout the year. The tournament included meals, drinks, and competitive play throughout the afternoon.
Organisers Overwhelmed by Support
Mark Galley and Gareth Henney said: “This is the first time we have organised an event and we are completely blown away by the support we have received. We can’t thank Rainbow Hub enough for everything they do for Harvey and just want to give something back.” They added: “It was such a success that we have already booked for 2027 and we will be inviting families and other guests to enjoy an evening event after the golf next year.”
Charity Impact: Supporting 160 Children
Emma Parish commented: “We are delighted that Gareth and Mark’s first golf day was such a success. £14,035 is an amazing total and will help us continue providing our specialist services to children and young people. Everything we do is about increasing independence and helping the children be the best they possibly can. The organisers have already rebooked Hurlston Hall for 2027 to build on their initial success, planning to expand the event with an evening gathering for families and guests.
