Cardiff agency post raises £1,000 for Tŷ Hafan

A Cardiff estate agency's simple social media post has sparked a wave of corporate generosity for children's hospice charity Tŷ Hafan. The online update has successfully secured a £1,000 donation ahead of the upcoming Cardiff Half Marathon.

Social media post leads to corporate donations

Sales Director Nathan Walker initially shared his plans to tackle the half marathon to support the hospice in honour of his late nephews. After the agency shared his story online, a representative from property portal Rightmove was moved to make a surprise corporate contribution. Rightmove generously arranged a direct £500 contribution to support the vital children's charity.

Matching this incredible support, CPS Homes pledged an extra £500 to bring the total to £1,000. The combined donation will directly benefit Tŷ Hafan's essential services.

Company reaction to the unexpected support

Barrie James from CPS Homes said: “We initially shared Nathan’s fundraising journey to help him build momentum, and as a company, we were already set to back his efforts with a £500 donation from CPS Homes.”

“However, seeing Rightmove get involved completely unsolicited off the back of an online post was a fantastic surprise - it really shows the power of social media in driving community support.”

“Tŷ Hafan provides priceless support to children with life-shortening conditions and their families across Wales, so combining our company match with Rightmove’s contribution to turn a simple online update into £1,000 of direct funding is incredibly rewarding.”

Ongoing fundraising efforts for the hospice

Tŷ Hafan relies heavily on charitable contributions from the community to maintain its essential palliative care services and respite support for families. Both the agency and Nathan are continuing their fundraising efforts as race day approaches.

The £1,000 raised through this social media post will go towards the hospice's vital work, and further donations are expected as the Cardiff Half Marathon draws nearer.
