Don, chief executive officer of Salcare, has embarked on a 445-mile charity bike ride to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity and the frontline service he leads. The challenge follows his milestone 60th birthday last week.
Supporting Two Vital Charities
Salcare is a 'one-stop shop' for families facing hardship across Amber Valley, Erewash, and surrounding areas. It operates a community food pantry, furniture warehouse, and provides domestic abuse support services. Beatson Cancer Charity offers support to cancer patients and their families.
Don said: "Turning 60 felt like the perfect opportunity to take on something that would really make a difference. This challenge is about far more than cycling miles - it's about supporting two charities that mean so much to me. Salcare changes lives every day in our local communities, and Beatson Cancer Charity has provided incredible support to so many people and families."
Training and Fundraising Progress
Don has already clocked up hundreds of training miles, including cycling through a recent heatwave, while balancing work and family commitments. Salcare will share his training updates, route information, and fundraising progress, encouraging supporters to cheer him on.
The charity hopes the local community, businesses, and supporters will donate, share updates, and help raise awareness. Every mile cycled will make a lasting difference. To support Don's fundraising challenge, visit the GoFundMe page.
