Dorset Firm Wins Signed Ball After Charity Challenge

A team from Dorset building company Modulek has secured a signed football after taking part in a charity sporting challenge that raised thousands of pounds for a local air ambulance.

Colleagues from Modulek joined forces to complete 3,000 keepy uppies, helping raise £3,406.25 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. The challenge took place during the World Cup, with participants across the region aiming for 3,000 keepy uppies in honour of the charity’s busy crew, who were called out 2,738 times last year.

Charity Challenge Details

Every group that signed up was entered into a prize draw for a signed AFC Bournemouth football, donated by the club after choosing the air ambulance as an official charity partner. Modulek raised an impressive £670 on their own and were selected as the lucky winners of the signed ball.

Ian Grundy, non-executive marketing director at Modulek, said: “The team at Modulek achieved 3,000 keepy uppies in just one session – with many colleagues joining in to have some fun and support this very worthy cause. The team was super pleased to support the very important work of Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.”

Impact on the Air Ambulance

Rosie Cornelius-Light, fundraising officer at Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, added: “A massive thank you to everyone who took part in our first ever Big Keepy Uppy Challenge! It was amazing to see so many people getting involved and embracing the excitement of the World Cup whilst supporting the charity. From families, workplaces, and youth teams, it's been fantastic to see people having fun and making a real difference. We're also incredibly grateful to AFC Bournemouth for supporting the challenge and donating a signed football as a prize!”

The challenge not only raised vital funds but also highlighted the air ambulance's reliance on community support, with the crew attending 2,738 call-outs in the previous year. Modulek's contribution of £670 represents a significant portion of the total raised, demonstrating the company's commitment to local causes.

Community and Corporate Involvement

The Big Keepy Uppy Challenge saw participation from various groups, including families, workplaces, and youth teams, all embracing the World Cup spirit while supporting a life-saving service. The signed AFC Bournemouth ball served as a coveted prize, adding an extra incentive for participants.

Modulek's achievement of completing all 3,000 keepy uppies in a single session underscores the team's dedication and camaraderie. The company's marketing director expressed pride in the team's effort, emphasizing the importance of supporting the air ambulance's critical work.

The success of this inaugural challenge suggests potential for future events, as the charity continues to engage the community in innovative fundraising activities. With the air ambulance's operational costs and reliance on donations, such initiatives are crucial for sustaining their life-saving missions across Dorset and Somerset.
