Former Birmingham City defender Harlee Dean is set to swap the back line for the boxing ring at a charity event in London this autumn. The 35-year-old, who currently plays for National League North side Morecambe, will feature on the card for A Night to Remember III on October 22 at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Dean amassed nearly 200 league appearances for Birmingham City after signing in 2017. During his six-year stay at St Andrew's, he became a fan favourite and won the Supporters' Player of the Year Award in the 2020/21 season.
Football Stars Trade Boots for Gloves
The event, organised by Pro Project Promotions, will see professional footballers trade shin pads for mouthguards in a night of charity boxing. Match-ups are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks, but the card also includes former West Bromwich Albion striker Simon Cox.
Graham Stack, former Arsenal goalkeeper and founder of Pro Project Promotions, said: "This is our biggest and most emotional line-up yet. Every one of these lads has a story worth telling - some have played at the very top of the game, others have had to rebuild their whole lives, and all of them are stepping back into a ring for people who need it more than they do."
Charity Fundraising Tops £201,500
Over £201,500 has been raised for good causes across the two previous A Night to Remember events, and organisers are aiming to build on that total with the third instalment.
Stack added: "We've raised over £201,500 for charity in our first two events and we want the Grosvenor on 22nd October to be our biggest night yet - so get your tickets early, because this one will not stay available for long."
Documentaries and Ticket Details
The event will also feature documentaries landing on Amazon Prime, which Stack said will give more people a chance to see what the event really means. "With the documentaries landing on Amazon Prime, more people than ever are going to see what this really means," he said.
