A special family fundraising event marking the 50th anniversary of the Friends of the Baby Unit will be held next month, bringing together three generations of a Derbyshire family to support vulnerable babies.
Fundraising Stall to Support Neonatal Units
The charity stall will raise vital funds for hospital neonatal units at Derby and Burton, helping to provide essential equipment and comfort to families during their hospital stay. The cause is incredibly close to the hearts of the organisers. Seven-year-old Tabitha was born six weeks prematurely and received specialist care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Derby.
Tabitha's school also held a non-uniform day for the charity on Friday, July 17, 2026, which successfully raised £110.

Tabitha's school friends recently raised £110 during a non-uniform day to support the cause.
The upcoming summer stall will take place at Glebe House, off Catton Lane, from 11am to 2pm. The charity has spent five decades providing essential equipment, comfort and support to babies, their families and the dedicated staff caring for them across University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.
Founder Honoured with British Empire Medal
This year also marks another proud milestone for the family. Kate Repton BEM, Tabitha's nana and founder of Friends of the Baby Unit, has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the King's Honours in recognition of her outstanding services to premature babies, neonatal care and charitable fundraising.
Visitors to the event can browse a wide range of bargains, including homemade cakes, toys, books and bric-a-brac, with every penny raised going directly to the cause.
