Pippa Thomas and her husband Mike, from Hook, Pembrokeshire, are organising a series of fundraising events to raise funds for Pembrokeshire Children’s Services. The couple, who have been foster carers for nearly 19 years, are motivated by their own experiences caring for children with complex needs, including their adopted son Levi, aged 10, who was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
Family Fun Day at Pelcomb Inn
The first event, a family fun day, will take place at the Pelcomb Inn, Simpson Cross, on Sunday, August 30, from noon to 5pm. Organised by Pippa's brother Nicky and his wife Nic, the event is open to the public and will feature children's activities, bouncy castles, face painting, temporary tattoos, cakes, treats, music, and refreshments.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page, and further fundraising events are planned in the coming months, including bingo evenings, treasure hunts, and raffles.
Support for Children and Families
The Thomas family currently have two foster daughters living at home, as well as several former foster children living independently nearby. They also have two daughters and grandchildren. Their son Levi’s condition, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, is a rare and complex congenital heart condition, which has inspired them to support other children and families facing similar challenges.
