A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the family of a 33-year-old Cannock father who was found dead at a beauty spot in the West Midlands. Alex was discovered deceased over Cannock Chase on Friday, August 28, six days after he was reported missing.
Staffordshire Police confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious and that a file is being prepared for the coroner. The force had earlier launched a search operation involving police officers, search-and-rescue teams, and volunteers.

The GoFundMe page, organised by ChaseTV, aims to support Alex's family. The page's author described Alex as "so much more than the circumstances in which we lost him." He was a much-loved dad to two children, a son, brother, partner, friend, and an Armed Forces veteran.
"His children and family meant everything to him," the page reads. "He loved deeply, and those closest to him knew just how much the people in his life mattered to him." The tribute continues: "Alex was funny, kind-hearted and always willing to help others."
Volunteer Work and Community Response
Alex had previously volunteered his time to travel abroad and help people affected by conflict get to safety. "It was simply the kind of person Alex was," the page states. "If he saw someone who needed help and there was something he could do, he wanted to help."
The page also highlighted the response when Alex went missing, noting that people "checked CCTV and dashcam footage, offered equipment and resources" and travelled to support "those closest to him through some of the most difficult days imaginable." The author added: "We will always be grateful for what they did for Alex and our family."
Remembering Alex's Life
The fundraising page emphasises a desire for Alex to be remembered positively: "More than anything, we want Alex to be remembered for the life he lived, the people he loved, the people he helped and the memories he leaves behind." It expresses gratitude to everyone who searched, shared, supported, donated, sent messages, and stood alongside Alex's family, saying: "The extraordinary kindness and compassion shown to us is something we will never forget."
