Greater Manchester charities receive funding boost
GM charities get funding boost

Three charities in Greater Manchester have received thousands of pounds to support their community work, thanks to the Benefact Group Movement for Good Awards. The funding was awarded during the first half of the year, with the Kidney Cancer Support Network in Manchester and More Than Words Advocacy CIC in Wigan each receiving £1,000. Manchester-based charity Reverse Rett was awarded a £5,000 donation following a special prize draw.

Annual awards give over £1 million

The annual awards scheme is giving away more than £1 million to good causes across the country this year. More than 9,600 local residents put forward their favourite regional causes to help them win a share of the money. Additional charities selected to receive financial backing will be announced by organisers later in the year.

Nominations still open

The funding team is continuing to encourage local people to keep submitting their top picks online. Mark Hews, group chief executive at Benefact Group, said: "We are hugely grateful that people continue to take the time to nominate good causes to receive a donation through Benefact Group Movement for Good. We understand the difference that £1,000 can make in helping charities continue their vital work, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact these donations will have on communities in the future."

Charitable giving at the heart

He added: "As an organisation owned by a charity, we donate all available profits to good causes, meaning the more our Group grows, the more we can give. Charitable giving is at the heart of everything we do, and we are delighted to donate more than £1 million each year to charities through this programme. We are hugely grateful for our supporters, including customers of trusted insurer Ecclesiastical and responsible investment manager EdenTree, who all play a role in making this possible."
