Norwich Housebuilder Supports Local Charity with £3,000 Donation
A leading housebuilder based in Norwich has made a significant contribution to a local charity dedicated to combating food poverty and fostering community connections. Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia has donated £3,000 to The Feed, a Norwich-based social enterprise that uses food as a tool to bring people together, address food insecurity, and reduce social isolation across the city.
Supporting Community Initiatives
The Feed operates a variety of programs aimed at helping residents eat well, live well, and feel connected. These initiatives include community cafés and a social supermarket that provides affordable groceries to individuals and families facing financial difficulties. By creating welcoming spaces and improving access to nutritious food, the charity strives to empower individuals, strengthen community bonds, and reduce inequality in Norwich.
Income generated from the charity's cafés and catering services helps fund these essential community programs, while volunteers play a crucial role in sustaining its operations. The recent donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia will directly support The Feed's ongoing efforts to ensure more people can access affordable food and supportive environments when they need them most.
Charity Leadership Expresses Gratitude
Amy Griffiths, CEO at The Feed, expressed deep appreciation for the housebuilder's generosity. "We are incredibly grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for its generous support during such a crucial time of year," she said. "Donations like these make a real difference to the thousands of households who rely on our services – they help us to continue to provide affordable food and essential supplies to those who need it most in our community."
Griffiths added, "The kindness and generosity shown by the housebuilder's team is a wonderful reminder of how businesses and charities can work together to make Norfolk a better place for everyone."
Community Fund Scheme
The donation was made through Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia's Community Fund scheme, which is financed by the Barratt Redrow Foundation – the charitable arm of Barratt Redrow. This fund provides monthly financial support to both national and local charities throughout the UK, aiming to leave a positive legacy in the communities where the housebuilder operates.
The Barratt Redrow Foundation is set to celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its inception, the foundation has committed £20 million to various charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charitable organizations, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people annually.
Commitment to Local Impact
Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia, highlighted the importance of The Feed's work in Norwich. "The Feed plays a hugely important role here in Norwich, supporting people through challenging circumstances and helping create a stronger sense of community through something as fundamental as food," he stated.
Wood continued, "As a developer building homes across Norfolk, we're committed to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference locally, and we're proud that our Community Fund can contribute to the ongoing impact The Feed is having across the city."
This £3,000 donation underscores the housebuilder's dedication to corporate social responsibility and its focus on enhancing the well-being of residents in the areas where it constructs new homes.
