WHN Solicitors has brought its fundraising total for Rossendale Hospice to £96,000 after its 18th annual charity golf day raised £7,000, edging closer to a six-figure milestone.
Event Success Despite Weather
Held at Rossendale Golf Club, the event saw teams brave challenging conditions, with WGM Project and Building Consultancy clinching first place in a tight finish, followed closely by DNA Insulation Services in second.
Daniel Long, director and head of commercial at WHN Solicitors, expressed pride in the firm's long-standing support: “We believe all companies and organisations should invest in the communities in which they operate. Our firm can trace its roots in the Rossendale Valley back over 200 years, and so the Rossendale Hospice is an organisation that is close to our hearts.”
Community and Client Support
Long highlighted the personal connections many at the firm have with the hospice: “Many WHN staff, clients and partners have seen the incredible work the hospice does first-hand, and it was fantastic to have the team with us on the day. Hopefully, the £7,000 raised this year can make a real difference and, next summer, we can hit the £100k mark. Lastly, a huge thank you to all teams and sponsors on the day, as well as Rossendale Golf Club for its excellent hospitality.”
Hospice's Vital Funding Needs
Michelle Tiffin, fundraising manager at Rossendale Hospice, underscored the importance of such events: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at WHN Solicitors, the teams who took part, the sponsors, and Rossendale Golf Club for their continued support. Reaching £96,000 raised through this event is a fantastic achievement and reflects the generosity of our local business community. The £7,000 raised this year will directly support patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses across Rossendale and the surrounding areas.”
Tiffin also noted the critical financial context: “As a charity, we receive just 25% of our funding from statutory sources, making the support of events like this vital to helping us continue delivering our care and services. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with WHN and look forward to celebrating the £100,000 milestone together next year.”
Looking Ahead
The event, which has run for nearly two decades, has become a staple in the local business calendar, drawing teams from across the region. With the £100,000 target within reach, both WHN Solicitors and Rossendale Hospice are optimistic about next year's event.
Rossendale Hospice provides care and support for individuals with life-limiting illnesses and their families, relying heavily on community fundraising to supplement its limited statutory funding. The £7,000 raised will go directly toward these essential services.
