A spectacular day of roaring engines, live music, and incredible community spirit has helped raise a fantastic £1,614 for LOROS Hospice, all in memory of a much-loved local father. Leicester resident Tina McBrien hosted a massive charity gala and motorbike ride-out to support the vital work of LOROS. The deeply personal event was organised in loving memory of Tina’s late father, David Leader, who sadly passed away from stomach cancer in 2019, as well as to honour all those across the community who have lost loved ones to the disease.
Motorbike Ride-Out and Gala Celebration
The action-packed day kicked off with an impressive motorbike ride-out. Co-ordinated by the Rideout Leicester group, a convoy of bikers travelled from Stanton Lakes, journeying through the county before arriving at the Leicestershire County Cricket Ground for the main gala. Once there, attendees were treated to a vibrant afternoon packed with entertainment and activities. Local favourites Beats Workin provided the soundtrack for the day, keeping the crowds entertained with live music, while a variety of independent stalls - including Monica's Suame beads, a familiar face from the Leicester Haymarket Shopping Centre - offered plenty for visitors to browse.
Community Support and Raffle Prizes
The local community dug deep for the cause, taking part in a blockbuster charity raffle featuring incredible prizes generously donated by Porsche, Leicestershire County Cricket Ground, Leicester City Football Club, and Leicester Riders. Beyond the fun and fundraising, the event also served as a hub for community support. Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were both in attendance, alongside representatives from Andy's Man Club, who were on hand to offer vital advice, guidance, and a listening ear to men in crisis.
Organiser's Thanks and Inspiration
Following the event's massive success, Tina hopes her story will inspire others in Leicestershire to take the plunge and fundraise for the hospice. "It was a great day, we all enjoyed it, and I want to thank my family and friends for supporting me," Tina shared. She also extended special thanks to Laura Roberts, the community engagement co-ordinator at LOROS, for her support, and to Joao Raposo Photography for beautifully capturing the memories of the day.
