Llandudno Fashion Show Raises £600 for Christian Aid & Cancer Research
Llandudno catwalk raises £600 for charity

Llandudno Churches Unite for Charity Catwalk Success

A vibrant fashion show in Llandudno has successfully raised £600 for two vital charitable organisations. The event, held at Gloddaeth Chapel, was a collaborative effort between the Llandudno Christian Aid Group and Cancer Research Wales.

Celebrating 80 Years of Global Support

The catwalk display was part of celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Christian Aid. Models for the event were committee members from the various churches and chapels represented in the Llandudno Christian Aid Group. They showcased outfits sourced exclusively from the Cancer Research Wales shop on Gloddaeth Street.

Llinos Roberts, Christian Aid Church Engagement and Fundraising Officer, confirmed the show ran smoothly. She highlighted the group's innovative history, noting that Llandudno was one of the first Welsh towns to hold a Christian Aid Week house-to-house collection back in 1957.

A Legacy of Generosity and a Volunteer Honoured

The event also served as a tribute to organiser Jeanette Bennett-Williams, who received a long-service award after deciding to step down. Jeanette began her volunteering journey in 1982, initially helping with the house-to-house collection.

Reflecting on her time, Jeanette said, "I was impressed by the work they did and having young children at the time, I realised they would have opportunities denied by so many in the areas Christian Aid was helping."

Llinos Roberts praised the collective effort, stating, "Christian Aid’s work with partners would not be possible without this valued support in our communities." Over the years, the dedicated Llandudno committee has raised a staggering more than £280,000 for the charity's global work.
