LOROS Hospice Celebrates Four Volunteers with 35 Years of Service
LOROS Honours Four Volunteers with 35-Year Badges

LOROS Hospice is paying tribute to some of its most committed volunteers, four of whom have each dedicated an astonishing 35 years to supporting the charity. These four individuals are receiving their 35-year badges as part of the hospice’s Volunteers’ Week celebrations, alongside 146 other volunteers who are being recognized for between 5 and 30 years of service.

CEO Praises Volunteers as the Heart of the Hospice

Camilla Barrow, CEO of LOROS, expressed her gratitude: “Our volunteers are the heart of the hospice; without them we simply couldn’t provide the level of support we do to patients and their families. They are incredibly important to us and help in so many different areas, from our shops and fundraising events to our care services. It speaks volumes that we have such a phenomenal number of people celebrating anniversaries with us – they love volunteering here, and we love having them.”

Spotlight on Rita Berry: 35 Years of Service

One of the volunteers receiving her 35-year badge is Rita Berry, aged 88, who dedicates her time to the LOROS shop in Market Harborough. Rita shared her thoughts: “One of the best things about volunteering is the friendships I’ve made over the years, and the lovely feeling that you’re doing something genuinely good for LOROS. I’d always fancied shop work as my father kept a shop, and I loved being there with him—so it felt like the obvious thing for me. And I absolutely love it. The secret to volunteering? To get on with people. I work with a very good colleague, and we love working together.”

A Thank You to All Volunteers

Camilla added: “On behalf of the hospice, I would like to thank all our volunteers. It is their commitment and dedication which enable us to offer the care that we do and touch so many people’s lives. Happy Volunteers’ Week to all of them.”
